Stephen Young here with my first FAQ/Walkthrough. This is for Final Fantasy IV
Advance, a GBA port of Squaresoft's classic Final Fantasy II for the SNES. I
never played the original Final Fantasy IV/II, but after playing through Final
Fantasy: Dawn of Souls I eagerly awaited Square Enix's update. Upon getting it
I was impressed with the cool characters and FFVII-style battle system.
Upon completeion this guide will include a full walkthrough for both the main
story and the Lunar Ruins. Theres also a seperate section that includes a
summar of the plot. I've decided to keep the summary sperate from the
walkthrough because I always hated reading a walkthrough and discovering a plot
twist before it happened, etc. By keeping the summary seperate the reader can
still check back on the story while not having to be worried about having the
game ruined. The walkthrough is therefore SPOILER-FREE, while the summary is
practically over-flowing with SPOILERS. I hope this guide is helpful to you,
and that Final Fantasy IV Advance proves as entertaining as it is to me.

- Dark Knight-
Entrusted with command of the Red Wings, Baron's royal airship fleet, he
masters the dark sword under the king's orders. Cecil is a pure-hearted young
man with a strong sense of justice.

Darkness: Converts life force to attack power and attacks all enemies.

- Dragoon -
A rival of Cecil's, yet at the same time a close friend. As the commander of
the dragoon unit, Kain possesses great stength and is admired by all of Baron.

Jump: Jumps high into the air, hones in on an enemy, and plunges down to
deliver twice the damage. Immune to enemy attacks while in the air.

- White Mage -
Renowned for her beauty throughout Baron, Rosa harbors feelings for Cecil.
Roda's mother was also a white mage who once fought alongside and saved the
king of Baron. The determinatin to follow her mother's footsteps makes Rosa
tread the path of the white mage-so the she herself might save Cecil.

White Magic
Pray: Offers prayers to the heavens to recover all party's HP.
Aim: Strikes with 100% percision when using bows and arrows.

A young girl residing in Mist, the village of summoners. WHile the blood she
inherits from her summoner mother gives her the innate ability to summon
creatures, within Rydia also lies great power for both white and black magic.

enemies.
Hide: Hides and becomes immune to enemy attacks.
Heal: Uses potions on all allies.

passed down for generations. Edge comes off quite self-assured with his
advanced arsenal of ninja techniques.

Steal: If successful, steals enemy treasure.

Press the switch behind the guard to open the door to the right. Inside is 480
GIL, ETHER, and a TENT. Go down the opposite hallway and go up the stairs. Walk
west and go down another set of stairs. Go south until you trigger a scene. Go
through the door and head north through the small opening between the two
buildings. Approach the northern tower and another scene will occur. Enter the
tower and go up the stairs. Talk to the girl to the right and go up the stairs.
Head west toward your bed and an event will start.
After the scene you'll end up outside the castle. From now on the outside world
will be known as the overworld. Simply head left or right to enter Baron City.

Go up the stairs where a girl will dance
for you, and go into the water. Go down the waterfall (WTF?!?) and continue
following the stream under the bridges. You'll end up in a small pond outside
the city. Right below the entrance is a TENT and to the southeast is an
HOURGLASS.
Now that your well supplied, exit the city. On the overworld head west until
you come to a stream. Follow it north until you come to a bridge. Cross the
bridge and go northwest, into a valley. Follow the path north until you come to
a cave. Save your game and enter.

head right. Grab the POTION from the chest along the east wall and continue
going north. A scene will play so continue along when its done. Another scene
will soon be triggered. Choose the first option and prepare for a boss fight!

| Start off by having Kain use Jump. Continue using Jump with Kain and using |
| Cecil's regular attack until the Mist Dragon turns to mist. When this |
| happens, don't attack him. If you do the dragon will use a nasty |
| counterattack. Instead, either defend (press right on the D-Pad and choose |
| "Defend") or use items until the dragon turns solid again. Keep attacking |
| the dragon until its defeated. |

Head north through the opening so you appear on the overworld. Save and heal if
you have to, and continue going east into Mist.

Head right and you'll trigger a scene. You'll be thrown into a battle. Just sit
there and wait to be killed. Sucks, eh? Another scene will occur and you'll
appear on the overworld.
Follow the path north until you come to the desert. Head north east until you
see a town near an oasis.

| should of only been attacked by the Soldiers two times, and only by two of |
| them at the most. Once they are dead, use your standard attack on the |
| General until hes defeated. The General may use retreat if hes left alone, |
| so you might want to attack him first and then use dark if your worried |
| about the experience and Gil. |

| i. Introduction (12.01) |
o-----------------------------------------------------------------------------o
The game begins with five airships flying across the overworld. Cecil is shown
on one with his crew, the Red Wings. A crewman tells Cecil that they will
arrive in Baron shortly. The crew note that Cecil seems bummed, but say that
they can relate. Apparently they had to kill innocents to steal a Crystal from
Mysidia. Cecil gets mad after one of the crew makes a sudden outburst. Cecil
trys to explain to the crew that what they did was right because the Mysidians
could use their knowledge of the Crystals to attack Baron. Despite his attempt
to cheer everyone up, he still seems sad. A crewman rushes in and tells them
that they are under attack. Cecil is attacked by Floating Eyeballs and a Zu but
easily handles them. Everyone is okay after the battle, but wonder about the
rapidly raising monster population as of late and Cecil wonders if its an omen.
They arrive at Baron.

| ii. Castle Baron (12.02) |

Cecil approaches the castle entrance and is met by Baigan. Baigan is happy that
they have the Crystal, but gets angry when he hears pity in Cecils voice. They
go toward the throne room but Baigan stops Cecil before he can enter. Baigan
wants to speak to the King in private. In the throne room, Baigant tells the
King that Cecil can no longer be trusted. The King says that he figured as much
but dosent care since he has the Crystal. Baigan calls Cecil in. Cecil gives
the Crystal to the King. Cecil is dismissed but dosen't leave. Instead he asks
the King was his intentions are. The King tells Cecil that his questions can
lead to treason and relieves him of his command of the Red Wings. He gives
Cecil a new order: he must slay the phantom in Mist Valley and deliever a bomb
ring (what?) to the village of Mist.
Kain rushes in and begs the King to reconsider. The King is furious and
commands Kain to travel with Cecil. Outside the throne room Cecil attempts to
apologize to Kain. Kain tells him to not worry, as the King is bound to forgive
them once they finish the mission. Kain walks off and tells Cecil to get some
rest. On his way to his chambers, Rosa approaches him. She is extremely glad
that Cecil is alrite and says that she was worried when he left on such short
notice. Cecil begins to talk about the slaughtering of the Mysidians and
attempts to walk away. Rosa catches up with him and says she'll visit him
shortly. She walks off but takes a long look at Cecil before leaving.
Cecil is once again interrupted before he can get to his room, this time by
Cid. Cid tells Cecil that Rosa was worried about him and to never make her worr
again. He then asks Cecil if the Red Wings wrecked the airships he created, but
realizes something is wrong with Cecil. Cecil tells him that the King released
control of the Red Wings from him. Cid is shocked and worries about the future
of the Red Wings and of the King. He tells Cecil that the King even ordered him
to make an airship to be used to slaughter people. Cid then begins to head
home, or else his daughter will kill him.
Cecil finally makes it to his room and falls asleep. He wakes up in the middle
of the night and wonders about the King. He then reveals that the King raised
Kain and him since they were very young. He realizes that he can't betray the
King. Before Cecil can fall back asleep Rosa comes in. She wants to know why he
must leave again and tells him hes acting strange. Cecil turns his back to her
and tells her everything is fine. Rosa tells Cecil to look at her, but he
ignores her and tells her that the Red Wings and him killed innocent people in
Mysidia. He assumes that thats his fate as a dark knight, and says that soon he
wont even care about killing people. Rosa says that they both know that would
never happen and Cecil says it dosent matter since hes a coward. Rosa says the
Cecil she knows would never act like this and makes him promise her he'll come
back in one piece. She leaves and Cecil thanks her. He than says that they can
never be togethor due to his class.
The next morning Cecil meets Kain and they leave the castle. They arrive at the
Mist Cave and enter it. While attempting to navigate through the cave a
disembodied voice tells them to leave several times. When they approach the
exit, the voice warns them to leave again but Kain demands that it shows
itself. Cecil tells it that they need to get to Mist and wont turn back. The
voice is revealed as the Mist Dragon and attacks. Kain and Cecil defeat the
beast and exit the cave.

| iii. Mist (12.03) |

Upon entering the town of Mist, Cecil and Kain notice that the Bomb Ring is
glowing. Fire spirits come out of it and destroy the city and its inhabitants.
The duo are shocked when they realize why the king sent them, but wonder what
his motives are. They hear a girl crying and upon finding her learn that her
mom died. She died because Cecil and Kain killed her summon, the Mist Dragon.
Cecil tells that girl that they are the ones responsible, and the girl gets
really upset. Cecil tries to calm her down, and Kain says that they have to
kill the girl to fulfill the king's orders. Cecil says that shes just a kid and
that he will defy the king. He has no furthur intentions in slaying in the
kings name anymore. Kain tells Cecil that hes on his side. Cecil asks Kain if
he'll join him, and Kain says he will, though hes also doing it for Rosa. Cecil
tries to get the girl to go with them, but the girl refuses andsummons a Titan
which creates an earthquake. Cecil and the girl awaken in a forest, but Kain is
no where to be found.

| iv. Kaipo, Oasis of the Desert (12.04) |

The pair travel through a desert and arrive at Kaipo. Upon entering the town,
Cecil brings the girl to the local Inn. Cecil tries to get the girl to talk to
him but she ignores him. They attempt to sleep but are interupted by some
guards from Baron. Somehow the king knows that Cecil let the girl live (I
wonder...) and the guards are here to kill her. Cecil says he wont let them do
that and kills them. The girl asks Cecil if hes okay and he promises to protect
her. After this the girl opens up to Cecil and tells him that her name is
Rydia. They go back asleep but the next day find out that Rosa has come looking
for Cecil. Apparently she has "Desert Fever" and the party needs to find the
Sand Ruby to cure it. She tells Cecil to be careful...
