Welcome to this Plot Resource for Chaos Legion. While the game is
technically an action/slasher it has a very complex story, so I decided I would
put this together to clear up any questions people might have about it. Do note
that this contains spoilers to the story and to the ending, do not read this
unless you want to find out exactly what happens. This is for analysis of what
occurs; it is not a guide of strategies. If you still have questions, or
something you wish to add feel free to email me about it.

/ \ \/| | CHAPTER 1: The Characters
\ \___| |___ ===========================================================
\______ /_______ \
\/ \/
Sieg:
As you have hopefully figured out by now Sieg is the main protagonist of
Chaos Legion. Sieg is a swordsman and a Knight of the Dark Glyphs. He is a good
friend of Siela and Victor, they seem to work together on a regular basis,
which also seems to distinguish Sieg as an exemplary knight. Sieg has a rather
odd personality, he carries from of the traits of his Capcom relative Dante,
that is being strong, relatively silent, stylish, and a complete bad ass.
However, he interacts and shows much more emotion than Dante, and this comes
out in his relationship with Arcia. Sieg has a good balance of heart and duty,
knowing he had to stop Victor, but never really giving up hope that he could
save him somehow until the very, very end. Sieg carries a custom broadsword,
and commands the legion armies, as well as Thanatos, the most powerful legion.
He is a powerful warrior, and stacks up head to head with Dante any day.
Victor Delacroix:
Victor is a very interesting character, mainly because he is not in control
of himself a lot of the time. Carrying a striking resemblance to Ghaleon from
the Lunar series, Victor is a very skilled warrior, as well as a powerful
sage-sorcerer kind of guy. He is deeply in love with Siela, and is willing to
do anything, even die to come back into being with her. He is overtaken by
Azrail and used as a pawn for rebirth, but even then is trying to get back to
Siela. Victor was the carrier of the 3 Dark Glyphs, and had a future as the
head of the Order, that is before he destroyed it.
Siela:
In the sense that she is a false symbol, Siela is the cause of everything
Victor does, until we find out that he is under the influence of Azrail. Siela
was Victors lover, and she seemed less a warrior than more of a magician/healer
kind of lady. Azrail actually takes the form of Siela in the final boss fight
sequence, garnering her trademark all black dress and blond hair. Even after he
soul is taken by Azrail, Siela is able to communicate with Sieg and aid him on
his quest, letting him know it wasn?t his fault and that he was doing the right
thing. In the end she is reunited with Victor and even speaks with Sieg
briefly. From the previews, you would?ve thought this was a jealous love
triangle, but in my opinion Sieg did not think of Siela in that light.
The Order of St. Overia:
The Order of St. Overia is kind of hard to explain, while it doesn?t seem to
be any sort of monarchy, it is more of a church setting, with a High Priest and
a head dictator figure, who seem to do what?s good for the people. There is no
set religion of the Order that the game lets known. The High Priest of the
order is actually the one who sent the three warriors to put down Azrail when
everything started, and it is also from the Order that the book of Apochrypha
from stolen. Rotarl is the Capital city of the Order, almost like a Vatican
kind of deal. The Order employs an army (hence Sieg was a knight) but it is
apparently ineffective in helping you fight monsters, thus it does not on your
quest.
Arcia:
Arcia seems young compared to the rest of the characters when you first come
across her, but that is simply because you will see her develop into a more
mature reality as the game goes on. She transforms from a na?ve girl looking
for revenge, to a girl in love with Sieg and knowing he was the only hope for
stopping Victor, and being willing to sacrifice herself for the innocent to be
spared. Sieg meets Arcia because she is tracking Victor after he killed
everyone in her village, including her mother, father, and brother. It?s no big
secret that she is Siegs love interest, and unlike Lucia she is much more
dynamic in displaying these feelings. Arcia carries no sword, and she wields no
magic, but rather equips two badass desert eagle magnum pistols, which get the
job done all the same.
Azrail:
Azrail is an evil spirit who had been vanquished, but is attempting to rise
from the dead. In the beginning of the game, the high priest of the Order of
St. Overia sends the crew to put down this rebirth, this is the site of Victors
metamorphosis to evil, and Sielas death. Like most evil antagonists, Azrail is
trying to wipe out existence, most likely to recreate the world as he sees fit
(this has been seen before: Lunar 1, 2, etc.). Azrail is very similar to the
Despair Embodied from Devil May Cry 2, although he is probably of less stature
than the devil himself.

/ \ \/| | CHAPTER 2: Talisman?s/Symbols/FAQ?s
\ \___| |___ ===========================================================
\______ /_______ \
\/ \/
The Dark Glyphs:
Victor was actually the carrier of the Dark Glyphs, he apparently had a very
bright future as the head of the Order before the travesty of Siela. He used
them to produce miracles. Sieg is a Knight (more specifically a swordsman) of
the Knights of the Dark Glyphs, and it is of course he who is chosen to pursue
and stop Victor.
The 3 Sacred Glyphs:
In the Apochrypha of Yzarc, it is recorded that the three sacred glyphs all lie
in sacred places. By collecting these three pieces, Delacroix gains the power
and the spell necessary to release Azrail, and bring forth the chaos of the
colliding worlds. These are used as a timeline to hurry Sieg along his quest,
and to give not of how close you are to Victor being able to accomplish his
goal.
The Book of Apochrypha:
This book is stolen when the Holy Capital of Rotarl is attacked. It is stolen
by Delacroix, because it contains the positions of the sacred glyphs that will
give him the spell necessary for the release of Azrail (who is obviously
manipulating him during this). It is actually know who stole the book, they
just couldn?t find him when they suspected him.
The Legions:
In a nut shell, these are crests that you can collect which will offer you
special and extra powers when you equip and activate them. Each legion has
different abilities that can be leveled up, and they are a main point of the
story in that they are how Sieg fights his way through the game. Borrowing
aspects from RPG?s, the crests can actually be mixed, with two equipped at a
time, but only one can be activated.
Thanatos:
The most powerful of all the legions, it is Sieg?s. It is shattered and the
pieces are scattered, and you can collect them along the way of your journey,
then use it to fight later on (trust me, you?ll be glad). Thanatos not only
represents one of Sieg?s tools being shattered, but also the world being broken
apart as he knew it, and the pieces being scattered also represent him having
to rebuild his life, and journey to make sense of everything to do so.
The ?Chaos?:
There are a couple things people seem to interpret this as meaning, so I will
simply present both that I have heard and then let you decide which makes the
most sense for yourself. First, the Chaos can represent the current state of
being the world is in, with Delacroix on the loose, the Order of St. Overia
being toppled (hence lack of order equaling chaos) or it would be used to mean
the chaos that will ensue if the three worlds are combined when Azrail is
released.
?Purification?:
Victor refers to this several times throughout the story, and it is pretty much
just what it sounds like. In colliding the three worlds, he will basically kill
everyone, giving the souls without bodies a chance to live (his logic, not
mine) and this process of world extermination he has titled purification. In
his eyes it is a good thing, as he has become totally turned from a sane look
at society. He believes that after this purification he and Siela will be
reunited as spirits.
Other F.A.Q?s:
Q: Why doesn?t Victor just kill Sieg in the beginning when he has the chance?
A: Victor is blinded by evil with Azrails power and wishes to make Sieg suffer
through the quest of following and tracking him only to fail. He could have
most likely killed Sieg very, very early on in the game when they meet, but he
does not, because he doesn?t believe Sieg deserves that easy a death for what
he ?thinks? Sieg did to Siela.
Q: Do Sieg and Arcia end up together in the end of the story?
A: Simply put: Yes. While the end sequence does make it seem very much like
they end up together, some people still doubted this. However, listen to the
lyrics of the song that plays at the end of the game when Arcia rushes to
embrace Sieg after he looks at her funny, and you will understand. It is almost
an extension of the story, the lyrics of the song are all about staying with
?you? and fighting ?together? and being together ?forver,? so I think it would
be safe to assume they are.
Q: Were Sieg and Siela involved, or just Siela and Victor?
A: No, Sieg and Siela were nothing more than friends. In some ways it seems
like Siela almost knew what was going to happen, and allowed it to knowing it
might be the only way to stop Azrail. Siela and Victor were actually lovers,
while Sieg was just a best friend to both. Part of Victors blind rage is
probably due to some jealousy and mixed intentions there as well. But as the
ending clearly shows, Sieg ends up with Arcia, and Victor with Siela.

/ \ \/| | CHAPTER 3: Plot Analysis
\ \___| |___ ===========================================================
\______ /_______ \
\/ \/
Ok, first of all Chaos Legion has a much deeper story than people gave it
credit for, generally because they probably didn?t even understand it, or were
not able to perceive it?s depth in it?s entirety. The story has several
influences, but its main source is simply a heavily gothic spin on a widowed
man (Victor) trying to be reunited with his dead lover (Siela). In the
beginning of the story, we see Victor who is actually working on containing the
Demon Azrail and putting him back in his place. After supposedly doing so he
believes he witnesses Sieg killing Siela (this is actually Azrail taking
Siela?s soul). After questioning a speechless Sieg, who also seems to have just
run up to the scene of the murder, Victor basically has it in for Sieg. Back up
a little bit, all three of these people are in the service of the Order of St.
Overia. It is this organization in which Victor becomes disillusioned, and
turns against their ideals, vowing to bring them down, and make Sieg pay for
what he ?did? to Siela. To do this, Victor plans to take all three sacred
glyphs, and then allow the three worlds to come together as one, thus merging
him once again with Siela, who is now in the spirit world. Hence, the chaos in
the title, this signifies the worlds being mashed together. Now, Sieg has a
couple problems with this, first of which is that he is still loyal to the
Order, because he knows the truth of what happened that night, and second, by
merging the worlds, Victor will kill everyone alive, in what he calls the
purification, so all the souls can live again.
The basic premise of the quest is really for Sieg to stop Victor from doing
these things, and he truly wishes to save his friend, but in his heart he knows
this is most likely not going to be possible, at least not in the way he thinks
of saving him. Along the way, Sieg will come across the girl named Arcia, whose
family was completely wiped out in a town destroyed by Victor. She has sworn
herself to avenge them, and stop Victor from taking for innocent lives by any
means necessary, even the sacrifice of her own life. Along with Arcia enters
the possibility of a romantic opposite for Sieg, several vulnerabilities for
him from a moral standpoint, and a major impact on the ending of the story. it
should be apparent to you from the start that Arcia is no where near strong
enough to defeat Victor, and that she will aid you at best. In the final stages
of the game, when you finally catch up to Victor, the events of earlier will
begin to unfold. It was Victor, not Sieg who killed Siela. Having been
overtaken by the evil Azrail, the evil spirit made him to believe Siela was an
image of Sieg, and he stabs her, Sieg does not revel this because he does not
wish to hurt Victor with the memory further. Arcia herself was actually the key
to unlocking these memories, because Victor sees her in the name position with
Sieg that Siela was in with himself.
When Victor is about to kill Arcia with her own pistol, he sees a flashing
image of Siela in her place, this is the reason he is about to kill her in the
first place, to avenge Siela, and it is also the reason he does not kill Arcia,
because this shows him the truth of what happens, and at the last minute he
releases his hold, and while we think Arcia is dead, she is simply shot in the
arm. Once Victor realizes the truth of what has happened, it is pretty suffice
to say he has lost his mind for the most part. Although he no longer sees Sieg
in an arch nemesis? light, he still plans to reunite himself with Siela, and he
calls forth the Chaos, after collecting all the glyphs, he falls off the side
of the platform, and now things get interesting. After Sieg does battle with
Azrail in the form of Siela (who is very similar to the Despair Embodied from
Devil May Cry 2) we get to see the ending. Arcia, as you already know is not
dead. Sieg will see Siela and Victor reunited in the spirit world, and Sieg
speaks briefly with the spirit of Siela, and it is this image of which he has
had premonitions of before, that was one of the main things that kept him
going. Now enter the relationship mentioned before with Arcia. While Sieg, who
has feelings for her, but hasn?t really let them surface yet announces that he
is the last one left (the city/capital has been destroyed) Siela cheerfully
announces that he is not alone, that he?s got her. At this Sieg gives her a
certain look and she smiles, laughs, and comes to him, and they apparently (we
can only assume) go off as happy as Victor and Siela (but alive).
Now there are still a couple things that should be cleared up before I get
emails about them. Victor is not really evil, he acts the way he did because he
was taken over in a way by Azrail. He must collect the afore mentioned glyphs
to gain the power needed to summon the chaos. His talk of purification denotes
that along with being disillusioned with the Order of St. Overia, he had also
lost all hope in society, and had no problems starting it anew with the
different spirits. Sadly, even when his actions are technically evil his
motives are always driven by his love for Siela; even Azrail could not drive
that from him, which is why he would rather be with her in death than live
alone without her. Now the other things I know people are going to ask about
are the plot similarities with Devil May Cry 2. While Lucia and Arcia are very
similar, as are Dante and Sieg, the bases of the stories are totally different,
the endings are totally different, and the romanticism is totally different,
because it is only developed in one of the stories.
