I.I INTRODUCTION
================
My gamefaqs name is ieatdirttoo, but my real name is David Donaldson. I live
in St. Louis Missouri. Im Seventeen and currently in my Senior Year of high
school and hope to be goign to Mizzou next year. I first got my NES way back
in 1993, and since then ive been hooked on video games. They are my favorite
thing to do in my free time, and I cant wait to see what the future holds.
I own an Xbox, Playstation 2, Gamecube, Playstation, PS1(small version),
NES, SNES, Dreamcast, and Sega Genisis. I spend at least 2-4 hours a day
playing video games. I guess Im not exactly a hardcore gamer because I cant
play as often as I used to, but I still play them alot. The Xbox is my
favorite console, but I like pretty much all of the other ones.
I play my games on a 27" Sony HDTV. I have a rather old but reliable stereo
system that supports Dolby Pro Logic II and Digital 5.1. I find that it makes
a big difference in the experince to play with good audio. Its so much fun
to storm the beachs of Normandy in Medal of Honer: Frontline. I use the
controller S for Xbox, maily because the big one doesnt fit my hands very
well.
My favorite type of Genre is First Person and Third Person shooters, which
is obviously why my favorite console is an xbox. I do like RPG's however. I
tried out Morrowind, but in the end it just wasnt my thing. Fable was pretty
cool, but also short. I also like RTS games like Warcraft III and Age of
Mythology. I forgot to mention above that I own 2 PC's, which arent really
good for gaming but get the job done. I also own a laptop.
For writing faqs I use good old Notepad. After trying out Wordpad(ick) and
Microsoft word, I decided I could live without wordwrap and all of those
extra problems that come with the more complicated word processors. I make
my faqs on my old Compaq Presario or my new DELL Inspiron Notebook. I play
games on my gateway.
The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay(which will be know as COR:
EFBB from now on), has the best graphics Ive ever seen on any console game.
The way Starbreeze was able to use normal and bump mapping is amazing. Almost
every object has a dynamic shadow, which for a console with a Geforce 3 Video
Card is amazing. The only complaint I have is that the resolution can get low.
Not during gameplay, but in the cutscenes. This isnt really a big deal however,
and can easily be excused.
The new Directors Cut edition of COR:EFBB is pretty cool It adds several new
featurs such as using riot guard. As most people know, this game pushed the
limits of the xbox, and its no different on PC. Having fast conputer will
really help the experience. The graphics on Xbox were amazing, and now they
are even better. All the resolution problems in the xbox version have been
fixed for the pc version.
My message board name is also ieatdirttoo, but I rarely visit the COR: EFBB
board. I have several reviews also. I have two other faqs, fore Manhunt and
Max Payne 2 both on xbox. Here are all my contributions
======================================================
I.II THE CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK ESCAPE FROM BUTCHER BAY
======================================================
Face it, most licensed movie games our pretty bad. That?s exactly what I
thought when I heard this game was coming out. It was not until I turned on
my TV and started watching a special on this game that I realized this game
is different. I went and bought the game and was amazed at how good the game
was. Very realistic graphics, awesome gameplay, and a great story turned me
Into a fan of the franchise.
Gameplay: 9/10
Most FPS are really repetitive. This one is different. While you get a variety
of guns and melee weapons to use, stealth is key to the gameplay. You can
still go in guns blazing ready to kill, but sometimes you will have to sneak
around to get through the level. This mix of a FPS and a Stealth game create
come really innovative gameplay. The only problem is that you can?t choose
which style of gameplay you want to use. Most situations will force you to
use a specific style, which can be rather annoying. Overall the gameplay is
exciting and faced paced, but being forced to switch back and forth between
gamplay styles really stinks.
Graphics: 9/10
These graphics are truly revolutionary. They are almost equivilant to the
upcoming DOOM 3. Just the detail was enough to make me hooked to the game.
The real time facial expressions helped create life like communication. The
reflections and lighting is accurate and super realistic. The shadows believe
it or not, are really what make the graphics awesome. They just look so darn
real and accurate it?s amazing. Almost everything has a shadow, and they move
very precisely. And even though this may sound a little weird, the gore is
done well too. Now, you might be wondering why I gave it a 9/10, here is the
reason. This game runs on a rather low resolution. During some of the cut
scenes the lines are so jaggy its ridicules. The character models are pretty
jaggy as well. If you have a super sharp TV, this may not be a problem, but
for people out there with normal tvs, it can be a real pain. While overall
the game usually does keep up its resolution high, when it does get bad it
looks horrible. There is also soe blurriness here and there.
Sound: 10/10
The sound in this game is awesome. At key moments it will adjust to a more
faced paced excited tune. The character voices are top-notch. Vin Diesel
performs superbly. The other actors provided voices too, and were equally as
great. The gunfire and stealth attack noises are accurate and exciting. The
game does not however support custom soundtracks, which is a bummer. The music
usually has a creepy vibe to it, further enhancing the excitement.
Controls: 9/10
The Xbox controller suites this game very well. It seems like all the buttons
are layed out in the best order possible. It has the standard controls of a
Xbox FPS, with a few tweaks here or there. The only problem is that aiming
can be a little difficult because you can?t move fast. You can?t really zoom
that far either.Overall the controls are well suited for this game.
Playtime: 7/10
This is probably one of the only flaws in this game. It?s simply too short.
You?re probably not gonna rack out more than 10 hours playing time, if you
reach that much. If your good enough, you most likely can have this game beat
with only 6 hours of playing time. The game is split up into 3 parts, Max
Security, Double Max, and Triple Max. There are 36 chapters as well.
Reliability: 9/10
Considering the amazing graphical achievement this game has accomplished, it
runs pretty good. You may get a little slowdown here and there, but it
usually runs at 25+fps. If too much slowdown occurs, the game will tone down
the picture quality and make things blurry. The Xbox is indeed a powerful
system, and it runs really good on it.
Overall: 9/10

I.VI. CHARACTERS
================
MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD
-------
RIDDICK
-------
Riddick is the most wanted con in the entire universe. He is extremely skilled
in hand-to-hand combat, stealth, and plain old firefights. Before the game
Riddick was believed to have been in the military (I got this information from
the Chronicles of Riddick DVD extras). This is probably the most direct reason
he is such an adept fighter. Riddick himself is strong, and has a high
tolerance to pain.
He obviously commited a murder or crime of some sort to have caused a chain of
events leading him to have a huge price on his head. As a result, almost every
merc in the universe would sell they're soul to the devil in order to get the
bounty on him. The most notorious and skilled of the mercs is William Johns (He
actually captures him several times before the end).
In fact, Johns is the entire reason Riddick is even to Butcher Bay. Riddick
is not an ordinary human, as you wil find out when you watch the Chronicles
of Riddick movie. His most noticable feature are his buffered eyes, which he
claims to have gotten for 20 menthols, but by the end of the game you will
find out he is not entirely truthful.
-------------
WILLIAM JOHNS
-------------
Johns is the most skilled Merc in the universe. For those of
you who havent realised what a merc is, heres a brief description. Mercs are
basically bounty hunters who capture prisoners and transport them to prisons
and collect the fee. Johns himself has a soft depressed voice, which has a
nack to make Riddick mad. Johns follows the nearly impossible mission to
capture and bring Riddick to one of the may correctional facilities and get
a good bounty on him. In the movie "Pitch Black", Johns actually dress's as
a cop in order to transport Riddick to another prison. However, the transport
ship crashs on a desert planet. Johns never gets to see the day when Riddick
dies, instead he is left tore in half on the cold ground of an abandoned
planet.
-----
HOXIE
-----
Not much is explained about Hoxie in this game. He is the owner and
Warden of Butcher Bat, the prison in which this game is set in. Judging by
his status, it can be assumed is a talented and wealthy business man with a
Dutch accent. He dresses in a mostly green outfit with gold colored tassles
and designs. Hehas long blond hair with an enourmous wort on the side of his
cheek. He seems to be very aggresive and out-front with all his beliefs.
Despite all the trouble Riddick causes, he seems to have a deep respect for
him. In the end Hoxie is accidentally betrayed by his own guards. The last
time you see hoxie he is slouching life-lessly in a chair with several bullet
holes in his torso.
------
ABBOTT
------
Second in command of Butcher Bay Correctional Facility. Abbott really
defines the term "Gangsta" in Riddick's Universe. He's fast talking, foul
mouthed, and and dangerous. He dresses in shiny red armor similar to that
of the Light Squad Leaders. His voice is provided by the rapper Xzibit, who
also provides the likeness. He has cornrows and a slight mustache. Abbott does
everything in his power to make prisoners lives a living hell. Abbott is never
found walking around like a guard, but you only meet him in certain areas
such as his quarters or in Tower 17, which is where you end up killing him.
Abbott is personally my favorite character beside's Riddick.
--------
POPA JOE
--------
Joe is a mysterious prison hermit that lives in the deep tunnels of
Butcher Bay. He is a large tan man with several tattoes and pody paint. You
meet Joe when traveling throught the pit. He helps you get your Eyeshine
Ability, which is Riddicks trademark. You actually do a favor for him and then
he stitchs all your wounds. Joe is certainly mysterious, and Riddick never
actually mentions his name. He explains he got his eyeshine "I got this from
a slam preacher, cost me 20 menthols". I guess technically he really didnt
get his eyeshine from Joe, but from the mysterious voice(forget HER name)
inside his head.
=================
I.VII GAME BASICS
=================
------
Health
------
Riddicks health is determined by how many blocks there are in the
top left conrner of the screen. You start out with 4, and by the end of the
game you can have a total of 8. When you are damaged one of these blocks will
turn reddish. If you stand for a couple of seconds ONE block will regenerate,
making it a little easier on you. Unlike some games Riddick is actually pretty
weak, meaning that he will take lots of damage fairly quickly. When your
health is low I suggest that you find some cover and let the one block
regenerat before you go back into battle.
----------------
Nanomed Stations
----------------
This station is what you use to refill your life. These are
scattered all through the prison. They are a big box on the wall with a red
or black strip. GO up and press X to use one. Sharp needles come out of 2
holes and go into Riddicks neck, presumably inserting medicine to heal him.
There are 4 one time use nanomed stations that increase your health maxiumum
by one block as well as healing you. Red stripped stations are located in
First and Double Max, Black ones are located only in Triple Max.
----------------
Jumping/Climbing
----------------
Jumping in this game pretty average. You press A to jump and X to grab onto
ledges. Riddick will pull himself up on almost anything that is wothin his
reach. You also can use this to grab onto ladders and hangrails. You have to
climb up things frequnelty in the game. You also need to shimmy a little, what
I mean is moving left and right when hanging on a ledge. Like other games you
will get damaged if you fall from to far of a hight, so keep that in mind.
________________________________I.VIII ENEMIES________________________________
-------
INMATES
-------
Weapons: Shiv, Club, Knuckleduster, Fists
Intelligance: Stupid
Description: As said in the manual, prison is a kill-or-be-killed place, so
your not the only murderer. Inmates are found in almost every level of the
game. They usually are weaponless, but the carry a variety of home made
prison weapons which they use to there full potential. Inmates in Maximum
Security will be less aggresive and more cooparative with you considering
they are afraid of you. Inmates in double max will be meaner and more
aggresive towards you. Inmates in third max are paralyzed dummys that wont
talk or move. Inmates are really stupid. they wont follow you when you run
or use varied tactics.
---------
MECHANICS
---------
Weapons: Screwdriver, Knuckleduster, Assault Rifle, Gun
Intelligance: Average
Description: Mechanics are rare enemys scattered across the game. They are
dressed in uniforms similar to inmates. They are unarmored weak and just
thrown in here and there for support. They carry screwdrivers and shivs most
of the time, but they can carry guns. In the very beggining one even carrys an
assault Rifle. As for intelligence, they are pretty smart. Since they usually
no gun when they see they will just run out charging try to beat you up. When
they do have guns they act pretty much like any other guard. You know, Shoot
to kill then seek and destroy. It seems like MEchanics are just put in the
game as support.
----------------------------
MAXIMUM SECURITY LIGHT GUARD
----------------------------
Weapons: Assault Rifle, Shotgun, Gun
Intelligance: Average
Description: These are non-armored guards payed mostly to walk around and
monitor prisoners. They usually wont be aggresive, but if you get in there
way they wont hesitate to pump you with 38 rounds out of there assault rifles.
They are mostly found in the beggining of first max but are also located in
random locations in double and triple max. They have pretty good aim, and use
the gun most of time when out of first max. Despite how they look, they are
pretty smart. They will seek you out when you flee, Actually try to kill
you rather than just standing around. They also will kill you on site if they
see you with a weapon classified as lethal(shivs, tranq guns, ect.).
----------------------
DOUBLE-MAX LIGHT GUARD
----------------------
Weapons: Assault Rifle, Shotgun
Intelligance: Smart
Description: These are the most common enemy in the game. Unlike the Max
Security guards these boys are armored and tough. Dont walk to close unless
you want the butt of a rifle in you face. They mostly use Assault Rifles
but will use shotguns from time to time. They are tough and intelligant.
Unlike other guards they follow you and dont let you recharge your health.
You will see alot of these guards. Mostly in Double Max, but they are also
common in Maximum and Triple Max too. These guards are much smarter than there
unarmored counter parts. They use tactics and work together to force you out
of hiding. There assaul rifles also have flashlights on them, making the dark
alot less protective. These enemys are generally hard, but not as tough as
some other enemys.
--------------------------
LIGHT GUARDS SQUAD LEADERS
--------------------------
Weapons: Assault Rifle, Gun, Shotgun
Intelligance: Very Smart
Descripition: These low armored fighters lead there men into battle. They wear
the samearmor as Abbott, but are very weak. There armor is not as thick as a
DoubleMax guard, and they tend to have bad aim. They are found in all three
securitysettings, but are probably the most least common enemy in the game.
They arefast runners however since they are wearing less armor. Most of the
time they fight with Assault rifles like every othe guard. These guys are
extremly smart, but It is all put to waste since they cannot defend themselves
properly. Since they lead guards in battle they must be intelligent. They also
use the normal gun to there advantage. The only personn you will probably find
a gun on is this guy.
-----------
RIOT GUARDS
-----------
Weapons: Minigun
Intelligance: Dumb
Descroption: These guards are assigned specifically to attend to riots and
escaped convicts. They carry a minigun, the best gun in the game. There armor
is nearly impossible to penetrate except for the paneling on there back. They
are found in every sectin of the game, escpecially at the end of double max.
When you kill them they drop the minigun, which is the only thing that is
effective against them. Always aim for there back and they will die quickly,
but if you have a minigun just load them full of lead in any part of there
armor. Despite how strond they are, they are pretty dumb. It may just be
because of there lack of agility, but they behave oddly. Try this. When find
a riot guard let him notice you. Go behind him then just keep circling him.
He will slowly turn towards you, but you will already be behind him again.
Kinda fun.
------------
HEAVY GUARDS
------------
Weapons: Minigun
Intelligance: Smart
Decription: These are some bad asses. They carry an extremely powerful minigun
and bulletproff armor. The only way to kill one is to shoot it with your own
heavy guard or somehow drop explosives on him. The Heavy Guard is located at
the end of double max and a few times in triple max. Howver in Triple Max
you get your own. They show up only 3 times I think, but Im not sure. There
Armor is immune to anything except for one of their own minuguns. They also
have the ability to fire rocket/flare missles for instant kills to anything
around it. They arent stupid either. They will charge, force you out of
corners and hunt you down.
--------
DWELLERS
--------
Weapons: Fists
Intelligance: Stupid
Description: The dwellers are naked human looking monsters that live in the
dark places of Butcher Bay. They throive in the dark, moving quickly in order
to kill you. They crouch all the time and run similar to Gollum(LOTR
character). The are pretty stupid, meaning that they cannot wield weapons, so
they use theyre fist's. They attack in groups, so naturally the Shotgun would
be the most effective weapon against them. As far as intelligance goes, they
are generally idiots, but will not hesitate to come looking for you. The
dwellers are found in only 2 chapters in the game, so you really dont have to
worry about them.
----
XENO
----
Weapons: Claws
Intelligance: Smart(for an underground creature)
Description: In this game there are two types of Xeno. The first type is huge
burrowing monster with large jaggedy teeth. This Xeno only appears a few times
in the game, but you can defeat them with a grenade. The second type of Xeno
are little pods that come off the bug Xeno's back. The little pods are very
common in the chapters the Xeno are located. They are also very weak, dying by
one shotgun shot. For creatures these Xeno are pretty smart. They stick to you
like glue, following you no matter where you go. They can also jump up ledges,
so don't think about running. Xeno usually come in waves of 2-5 every time
you beat the previous wave. They do eventually stop respawning. Xeno are only
found in a couple chapters of the game so they really are not much of a threat.
=====================
I.IX Fighting Tactics
=====================
There are several fighting tactics that are necessary to beat this game. They
are listed in this section.
-------------------
HAND TO HAND COMBAT
-------------------
Hand to hand combat is the most common method of fighting early in the game.
You can always fight with your bare your bare hands, but you can significantly
increase your chances of winning if you equip a weapon. Melee weapons are
found through out the game and can be used for other tactics as well.
When fighting you are not limited to a single attack. There are many jabs and
punchs(or stabs) that you can perform. In order to do a certain move you must
use the right joystick and the attack button. If you do two attacks fast enough
you will perform a combo. Below are the following attacks and the controls to
do them. When I say "right+ Right Trigger" right means right on the right joy
stick.
Right Jab....................Right + Left Trigger
Left Jab.....................Left + Left Trigger
Uppercut.....................Down + Left Trigger
Heavy Punch..................Up + Left Trigger
Left and Right Jab Combo.....Left Right + Left Trigger
Hand to Hand combat is mostly used in the beggining of the game and becomes
obsolete very quickly. It is revived in the fighting arena in Tower 17, but
other than that it is gone. Hand to Hand fighting can be hard to, escpecially
when versing people like Bam or Rust.
---------------
SNEAK ATTACKING
---------------
Unlike most other FPS, this game requires you to use a significant amount of
stealth. You can use stealth with almost any weapon, including guns. The most
ideal weapons to use are melee weapons like shivs and other sharp things.
Stealth is mostly used in double max. In order to kill someone with a sneak
attack there must be several things in place. The target must have his back
turned, and he cannot be aware of your presence. You must also be in stealth
mode(duh) to perform a stealth kill.
In order to kill the guard you must sneak up right behind him. There are
actually two methods of sneak attacking. If you press the Left Trigger, Riddick
will grab him by the neck but not kill him. In order to kill him you must press
X repeatedly. The other method is by pressing the right trigger for a louder
but much quicker kill. If you have a gun just press the LEft Trigger and
Riddick will hit the guard with the gun for an instant death. Use this method
on the Hard difficulty, it will make the game easier.
--------
REVERSAL
--------
This is a usefull method if you need to kill a guard but you cant sneak attack
him. Whenever you walk up to a guard he will most likely try to hit you with
the butt of his gun. Right before it hits you press the right trigger. This
will make Riddick grab the gun and point it under the guards chin then fire.
You can also use this when someone is hitting you in a fist or melee fight.
This skill is required several times in the game, and does take practice to
master the timing.
-------
SNIPING
-------
I was very sad when I found out there was no sniper rifle in this game, but
after testing the technique out I have found that it is east to snipe people.
First of all, your going to need either an assault Rifle or a gun(pistol).
The gun is better for this, but the Assault Rifle works good too. Any guard
will die if you shoot him in the head, which is why sniping is so valuable.
Sniping is pretty simple. Just aim your gun at your enemys head and fire. If
your using the gun you can still miss but hit the target with the next shot,
however if your using an assault rifle you will need to get the head shot on
the first try. This method is very useful on hard where going out into a
firefight will get you killed.

Description: This weapon has a good damage, but bad accuracy make this weapon
rather difficult to use. It has the standard 4 direction swing as most melee
weapons do. You can block with this weapon as well. This weapon can
potentially be very dangerous in hands of an enemy, so I advise you to take
out anyone you see carrying this weapon.

----------------------
Category: - Melee
Clip Size - NONE
Time used - Beginning of Game
Ammunition Type - NONE

Damage - ****
Range - *

Value - ***
Description: High damage and good accuracy may this a weapon of choice.
Generally this weapon is used in melee fights where you need to pack a
little extra punch. It has the same moves as the fists abut does a whole
lot more damage. You can block as well. Overall this is a good weapon in
the Beginning of the game, but once you get guns yor going to want to leave
all melee weapons alone.

Category: - Automatic Pistol
Clip Size - 14 Rounds
Time used - Interrogation Room, Most of Double Max, all of Triple Max
Ammunition Type - 9mm UC Bullets
Special Abilities - NONE
Damage - *******
Range - **********
Accuracy - **********
Value - ******
Description: This weapon, believe it or not rocks. High damage and the best
accuracy in the game make this my favorite weapon. Since it doesn't show up
much in the game, I advise you to use this weapon to its full potential.
This weapon is especially great for head shots.
----------------
Weapon - Shotgun
----------------
Category: - Pump Action
Clip Size - 8 rounds
Time used - The Whole game
Ammunition Type - 7mm Buckshot
Special Abilities - Flashlight
Damage - ********
Range - ****
Accuracy - *
Value - *****
Description: This is your stander shotgun. It fires a buckshot which spreads
several bb's and therefore increasing your chances of hitting the target, as
long as your close. If you try to shoot people from long range, you will have
to hit them multiple times to kill them(if you even hit them at all). This
is probably the second most common weapon found in the game. Its pretty
usefull against light guards and creaturs(dwellers and Xeno). For Double Max
Guards and Medium Guards you will want to use the assault rifle.
--------------------------------
Weapon - Prototype Assault Rifle

Category: - Automatic Rifle
Clip Size - 14 Rounds
Time Used - End of Double Max
Ammunition Type - 9mm MTT bullets
Special Abilities - Flashlight
Damage - ********
Range - *******
Accuracy - *******
Value - *****
Description: This was the prototype for the Assault rifle. Overall this is a
good weapon, but it has one huge problem. It only hold 14 rounds. Compared
to the Assault Rifle that holds 36, this factor can be very annoying. The
Firing Rate is actually doubled for this weapon, making it even harder to
conserve ammo for. The specs are all the same as the normal Assault rifle,
so no worry's there. The glass display is also cracked, meaning you have
no idea how many rounds you have left.

Value - ****
Description: This is probably one of the best weapons in the game. It has
the best firing rate in the game, but also is accurate and does excellent
damage. This weapon can be used to take out anything under riot guards.
Most guards carry this weapon. It uses a glass display to tell you how many
bullets you have left. You will most likely be using this weapon the entire
time you have it.

Weapon - Tranq Gun

Ammunition Type - Non Lethal Electric Stun
Special Abilities - Stand over your victim and press L to kill them
Damage - *
Range - *******
Accuracy - *******
Value - ***
Description: This weapon was not intended to be lethal. It puts out an
electric shock which renders its victims temporarily stunned. You then
walk over, press L, and Riddick will kick their skull. This weapon is
useful if you don?t have another gun, or like to stealth kill enemy's.

Clip Size - 4000 rounds
Time Used - Double and Triple Max
Ammunition Type - 10mm MTT bullets
Special Abilities - NONE

Range - **********
Accuracy - ******
Value - **********
Description: This weapon kicks ass. This weapon can take care of anything all
the way up to medium guards. It fires off a 4000 round clip that just
annihalates anything in its way. You should mainly use this to destroy riot
guards, but it takes care of anything else. The only problem is that you can
aim. You can only shoot forward. It also is heavy, which means Riddick will
have to walk slowly while lugging this thing around.

==================
I.XII General Tips
==================
-Always use stealth, especially on hard. Its much easier for the most part
to take out people one by one silently then jumping into a firefight where
you are most likely gonna die. This is not as important on easy or normal, but
for hard it is extremely vital. Never use the noisy attack either, as it will
alert. other guards of your presence.
-Conserve ammo if your low. This game has a realsic (and annoying) reloading
system. No matter how many bullets you have left in your clip, if you reload
when some are still in there, they are gone for good. This is very annoying,
especially with those hard to find weapons like the gun (pistol). So please,
do not waste your bullets or reload when you have 35 shots left in your 26
shot clip.
-Always be ready for whats around the corner. When your playing on hard 2
enemys can easily mean death if your not looking, so watch out. Always peek
around corners to see whats ahead of you. Never turn your flashlight on or
you will alert the guards to your presence. Try to take out the guards with
stealth if you can.
-Use your queit weapons always. Try using the gun to its full advantage since
its the most accurate and deadly weapon (if used correctly). The assault
rifle would be your second choice, since it is still relativly good and is
semi-quiet. Always use the shotgun last since its so loud and only suited
best for close-range combat.

I.XIII DC Additions
===================
I do not own the Directors Cut PC Version, so do not ask me any special
questions on the new content. This information has been found by me on the
web.
Additions are as followed:
- In one of the chapters, I believe in the chapter "Mining Core", you are
able to get inside a Riot guard and go on a rampage. It is similar to the
heavy guard at the end of the game, only faster and much more agile.
- Cigeratte Pack Number - 60
Manufacturer - Flare
Warning - May cause a burning sensation
Reward - DVD Trailer
Location - In the first area were you get the riot guard
there is a pack of ciggaretes in a room with a huge
sign above it saying "Briefing Room". It is pack
#60.
I apologize I cannot give you a walkthrough for the new content, but my
current PC does not have the required hardware to run the game well.

II.I ESCAPE
===========
You will automatically see a cutscene in which Johns is talking to Riddick, who
is strapped down awaitng transfer. After a little chat, the pilot of the ship
will announce that you are one hour away from Butcher Bay. A few seconds later
you will see the ship landing on a small shiping dock. Once you are in control,
get a feel for the game. When you are ready to continue, go and talk to Johns.
Select one of the two things to say to him. Once your done talking, Johns will
turn around. One of the other prisoners is wondering around, so Johns feels
the need to warn him. Once he has is back to you go up and crack his neck.
He will drop a gun, but dont bother picking it up since its DNA encoded and
will shock you. Turret guns will notice you and start firing. Behind you is
a hatch that the second prisoner opened up. Jump down it.
Go around the corner and you will come to ladder. Jump down and you will be on
top of a boiler. On the ground level ahead of you is a Mechanic fixing
something. Walk up to him to experience your first melee fight. Keep jabbing
at him while still blocking his attacks. He's extremely easy. Once he dies he
will drop a blue key card. Pick the keycard and the vent tool up then go
through the door.
Sneak down the small hallway and go into stealth mode. While your in stealth
mode you will be croutching, so you will naturally move slower than normal. A
guard will come strolling by humming a little tune. Now, you could run up to
him and duke it out, but since he has a gun and you dont that's not a good
idead. Instead I suggest that you stealth kill him.
While in stealth mode, walk right up to him while his back is facing you. Press
the right trigger to perform an instant kill, or press the left trigger to use
the more silent and slower stealth kill. If you used the left trigger, you will
only hold on to the gurad. Press the X button repeatedly and Riddick will crack
the guards neck.
Once he is dead you will need to grab onto the body and drag it into the
shadows. While in stealth mode go up to the body and press X. This will make
Riddick grab hold of the body. Drag the body of the guard into the darkness
near the door behind you. When your finished head right down the hallway. You
will come to a large room with a rail hanging overhead and stacks of crates on
the left.
Climb up the crates and look above you. Press X to jump up on the rails. Press
up to move across the rails. When you are halfway there a guard will run
underneath you. You do not have to kill him, so just continue down the rails.
Jump down once you come to the end. Use the Vent tool to go inside the
ventalation hatch. Follow the vent and kick the hatch open at the end. You are
now behind a fence and in a rather large room. Peek arund the fence and you
will see a guard with a shotgun. Ironically it has not ammo, so just walk up
to him. He will try to melee attack you with his shotgun.
You need to take it from him. In order to that you need to wait until he swings
then quickly press the right trigger. Riddick will grab a hold of the shotgun
and shoot the guard in the jaw. It takes a little practice, but ocne you get it
you should have no problems.
When you kill him Riddick will pick up the shotgun, but since you dont have any
ammo its useless (except for melee attacks). Facing the table turn right. Above
you is a large balcony. Next to you are some crates. Climb up the crates and
then onto the railing of the balcony. Shimmy to the right and pull your self up
when you get to the gap in the guard fence. Go left down the hallway and into
the elevator. Press the button to make the elevator go up.
Once you reach the top walk out. You are now in a small outdoor area. To your
right on the other side of the area is a guard with a shotgun, and ammo.
Hide in the shadows and wait until the guard turns his back. Walk up and hit
him the back with your shotgun (press the left trigger). Take his ammo and
climb down the ladder in the middle of the balcony. Go left and you will see
a locked door. As Riddick implies, blast the lock off with your shotgun. When
you go inside you will notice that its pretty dark. Activate the flashlight by
pressing the White Button and then walk around the corner.
A guard will be patrolling ahead of you. He will notice you because of the
flashlight, so shoot him before he can take any life off you. Go around the
corner to the right and you will meet up with some more guards. Shoot the
explosive barrels and continues. Go around the corner and deal with the
remaining guards. Go right and you will see a very bright light. Keep walking
into it to end the chapter.
=================
II.II THE ARRIVAL
=================
Once you start this chapter a cut scene will be displayed. Johns releases
Riddick from the restraints, and begins a conversation. After a little talking
Johns takes you off the ship and onto the landing dock.
This is your first look at Butcher Bay Correctional Facility, the tougheset
slam in the universe. Ahead of you down the path is the Main Gate, with barbed
wire fences to guard the path. Out of the main gate will come three men. The
one in the middle dressed in Green and Gold is Hoxie, the warden of Butcher
Bay.
The man in the shiny red and black armor is Abbott, second in command of the
prison. He is carrying a rifle just as the other guards do. The third man is
the standard guard at Butcher Bay. You will come to know them well. After a
delightfull greeting Johns begins to negotiate with Hoxie. Foolishly he tries
to get +50% on Riddick, only to find Hoxie has his own terms.
This does not go over to well with Johns, who threatens to leave Butcher Bay
and take Riddick to another slam. When Hoxie realizes that this might happen,
he decides to keep negotiating.
After this Hoxie tells Abbott to take you to your cell. You are now in control
of the camera, but you cannot move. Riddick will start moving, along with
Abbott yelling at you. He explains how things work at Butcher Bay, and what not
to do. While your walking towards the prison, look down at your shadow.
This is an excellent example of how graphically amazing this game is. Anyway,
eventually you will reach the main gate of the prison. You and Abbott turn left
once inside and go through another gate. Take this time to look at Butcher
Bay's stunning visuals. Just the sheer amount of Bump and Normal Mapping is
incredable. You will continue walking down the hall. You will turn right.
To your left is a mechanic fixing something. Just keep looking around as you
go down the hallway. You and the trio will turn right after a while, and pass
through a couple of gates. You are now inside the cell block.
The cell block is a small cramped series of hallways that for a short time you
will call home. Everywhere in the cell block are prisoners scattered about.
Eventually you will get to your cell, where you will cleaned.
==================
II.III PRISON YARD
==================
After that awesome introduction, you will be left in your cell. Once your done
be deloused, go outside of the cell. If you find this area particularily
intrsting, I suggest you explore it now because it will not be your home for
long. Anyway, once you are done getting a feel for the place go back outside
of your cell.
There is an inmate standing there named Barber, go talk to him. He tells you
that a guys name Mattson has been talking about you. He also tells you that
you can find him in the courtyard.
Make your way through the cell block and you will come to the courtyard. In
case you cant figure out what it looks like, Ill give a bried description. Its
a large outdoor area with sunlight pooring in. There is a large hole in the
middle called the pit. There are several hallways leading to different cell
blocks, but they are locked for now.
Mattson is standing in a corner talking to some other inmates. Go talk to him.
He apologizes and tells Riddick that he has a shiv for him inside his bunk.
Go back into the cell block and go to cell 40. Walk inside and you will be
ambushed by two inmates. They are extremely easy, so just kick the crap out of
them. When they are dead go back to the courtyard and talk Mattson. He tells
you that Rust forced him to set up the ambush, and that he will really get you
the shiv. Go back through the cell block and into your cell.
You will now see a cutscene. Mattson will walk in and give you the shiv. Your
little meeting however, is ruined by Rust, who walks in. Rust tries to act like
hes badass and confronts Riddick. When Riddick tells him to leave, Rust feels
the need to take a swing. The blow is dodged by Riddick who then puts Rust in
a choke hold. Riddick holds the shiv to Rust's neck, but is interupted by
Abbott.
With a gun pointing at his face, Riddick releases Rust. Abbott tells Riddick
not to mess with the natural order of things. Rust gets up and breaks Mattsons
wrist. Obviously after watching this you will see that Rust is Abbotts little
puppet.
Once the cutscene is over go back outside your cell and talk to Barber. You
are informed that Rust is waiting to kill you in the Aquila territory. In order
to beat Rust, you are going to need a weapon. Barber tells you that you can
get a weapon from Waman, who resides in cel 38. Go to that cell and you will
find Waman sitting on a bench. Talk to him and he tells you that he will get
you a weapon if you kill Molina.
Go across the hall from cell 38 and you will find Molina. Beat Molina to a
pulp and take his knuckleduster. Go back to Waman to recieve your reward. You
are now ready to face Rust, so head through the cell block and into the
courtyard. Go across the courtyard and into the Aquila territory.
======================
II.IV Aquila Territory
======================
Go forward then turn left. Welcome to Cell Block B. Its the exact same as Cell
Block A, except there is no security (probably due to Abbott and Rust). Anyway,
right away you will notice two inmates beating on a dead prisoner. Walk forward
to get them to notice you. The one that was hitting the corpse will now charge
at you with a bare fists.
If your playing on hard a single inmate can be trouble, so hit him first. He
should be knocked backa bit. Follow up with repeated strikes to kill him. Keep
going down the Cell Block and you will run into another Aquilan that screams
"Im gonna kill you" in a real deep voice. This inmate has a knuckle duster, so
I recommend killing him a quickly as possible. Cirle around him while throwing
in some fast jabs. Once he is dead continue down the cell block. Turn right and
you will find another inmate, but this one has a shiv. Make sure you have
your knuckleduster equiped then go fight. Do NON STOP jabbing and you will
kill him easily. DO NOT stop. Just keep pressing the right trigger.
Once he is dead grab his shiv because your gonna need it. Go down the short
hallway then take a right. In the area are two Aquilan gang members. One of
them is standing ready to light a flamable liquid that is trailing back to a
gas canister. If you go into his line of sight he will light it.
It does some pretty good damage (on hard anyway), so back up when lights it. On
ce he lights it he will run to the back of the cell block with the other
inmate. Go forward and they will both charge. Fortunatly, onle on e of them at
a time will fight you.
For the shiv guy you need to stay in a general area. Now that you have a shiv
you can inflict alot more damage than with a knuckleduster. Riddick also slashs
the shiv extremely fast, so agility is on your side. Just keep jabbing him and
he should fall down pretty quick. Now go up to the one with the knuckleduster
and star moving around him.
Keepe jabbing just like you did with the shiv guy before him and he will
eventually die. If you are low on health on of the cells has a Nano-Med
station.
When your ready continue past the two bodys of the aquilans and into the final
room. Here Rust will be waiting for you. Believe it or not, Rust is actually
pretty easy. He is roughly equivalent to a normal inmate, only a bit faster and
has a bit more health. In order to beat him just repeat the previous stradegy.
Circle around him while quickly jabbing. He will die fairly quickly and you
will be treated to a cutscene.
Abbott, who witnessed the fight, asks you to be the new roster. However,
Riddick doesnt even give him an answer, instead he just walks away. Abbot then
makes a small comment about not to say no to him. Once you are back in control
immediatly switch to your fists or else the guards will try to kill you.
When your ready to leave go back through Cell Block B and get to the courtyard.
In the courtyard you will find an inmate named Haley. Go over and talk to him.
From his beliefs, the Pit leads down into the guards quarters.
He also tells you that a rifle would be needed to get past the guards quarters.
But since they are all DNA encoded you will frie when you touch them. Haley
also tells you that there is a secret passage from the infirmary to the
mainframe, where the DNA codebank is.
A guard named Boulder owes Haley 150 ud. Haley says to go talk to him and he
will let you in the infirmary. Go back through Cell Block A until you get to
the double doors. Talk to Boulder and he will let you through.
==============
II.V INFIRMARY
==============
Walk through the door ahead and you will come to the infirmary. To your left
is a wall with two doors on it and a large window. Spread all around you are
beds for patients. On some of the beds are a couple inmates, who look like they
are being tortured rather than treated. Ahead of you are two guards. One of
them is on the other side of the room guarding the door, and the other is
walking around checking on the patients.
Walk up to the one that is strolling around and he will try to hit you. Right
before the gun hits you press the Right Trigger. Riddick will grab the gun and
shoot the guard (you still can't use since your DNA hasn't been added to the
data bank yet). Take his keycard.
The other guard that was guarding the door will come up ready to fight. Just
keep jabbing him with your shiv and he will die pretty quickly. Once he is
dead go back and to the entrance and face forward. Like Ive said before, to
your left are two doors. The one in the far corner is the one you need to get
to. Run over their and go through the door by using your keycard.
Immediatly you will be attacked by guard with nothing but his fists. Duke it
out then head right. In this corner you will find a large machine with a seat.
Go up to it and press X. Riddick hops in the chair and looks into the small
screen. Needles come out and pierce his chest. When he steps out you will have
a maximum of five health blocks. Three more of these machines are spread out
in the game. Once your ready head down the hallway and go up the ladder.
Continue moving and turn left. You will come to what looks like a large balcony
with a crate on the right. Quickly hide behind the crate as a guard will come
walking by. When he has his back turned go up and stealth kill him. Go inside
the grading to continue to the next room.
Follow the short tunnel and you wil come to another balcony. Silently cross
this balcony and go into the small tunnel. Keep following the tunnel and you
will come to another room. Inside this room is another guard. Once he has his
back turned go up and kill him. Go forward to come to a room with another
guard. Sneak up to him and sneak'em.
In the next room is a large stack of crates. Wait for the guard to turn his
back then go up and sneak him. Go inside the door to your left. Go through the
small hallway and into the mainframe.
===============
II.VI MAINFRAME
===============
Welcome to the mainframe. As Riddick says, security is tight. However, you also
get your hands on an assault rifle, which makes things a lot easier. You start
this chapter on top of incredably tall room. Below you is the DNA databank.
Go forward and shimmy on the scafold. Below you are somes crates. Carefully
jump down on them. On your level is a mechanic fixing something. Quietly sneak
up and crack the mechanics neck. Go up to the DNA computer and press X.
Riddick places his hand on a grid and the computer scans it.
When its done go back over to the mechanic. Near his body is his toolbox, with
an assault rifle. Go and pick it up (finally, some real firepower). Facing the
toolbox turn left and you will see a door. Wait a few seconds and some guards
will come out. Kill them all then go through the door. Kill the mechanics in
here and then go left. Some guards in the door ahead of you will throw a
grenade and close the door for hood.
Back up and wait for the grenade to explode. The explosion will blow a hole in
the nearby wall. Go up and wack the wall with your gun (Left Rigger) to knock
off the remaining chunks.
Walk inside the room then go left and kill the guard. Take his shotgun then
continue out into the room. On your left is a large power box that controls the
fan. Go up and switch it off then turn around 180 degrees. There is a large
stack of crates. Go over and start to climb up them. Go all the way to the top
then jump across the gap. Go through the now stopped fan.
To your left is a thin grading. Walk on it and you will fall down into the hall
beneath you. Shoot up the two guards in the hallway. Continue down the hallway
and turn right. Kill the guard in the next room and go in the small hallway.
You will come to a large room with alot of crates and a large balcony ahead of
you. On top of the balcony are two guards. Go across the room and go left up
the stairs. Go around the corner then kill the two guards. Go back down the
stairs and a guard will roll out of the darkness. Kill him then use the
Nano-Med station to heal any wounds you might have recieved.
When your ready go inside the service hatch. Follow the tunnel and you will
come to a dark hallway with green gas spraying everywhere. Use the valve on
the left to shut off the gas. Turn on your flashlight to see the two guards
ahead of you. One will throw a grenade then double back and start attacking
you with another guard. Back up and wait for the grenade to explode. When it
explodes go up and kill the two guards.
When they are dead go into the hole that the grenade blew in the wall. Follow
the hallway and you will come to room with some crates. Shoot the barrel on the
left to send the guard near you flying. Keep following the path and you will
come to a Nano-Med station.
Use it if you need to then keep going. Inside the next room is a closed off
elevator and two bunker on the left and right. Inside each of the bunkers is
a handfull of guards. Go on the right and kill the guards then peek out and
shoot the remaining guards. When everyone is dead a Riot Guard will come out
of the elevator.
At first glance this may look like suicide but it is actually quiet possible to
win. The Riot Guard is extremely slow, so were gonna use that to our advantage.
Play cat and mouse with it. Get it in position so its back is facing you.
Shoot it in the metallic covered plating to kill it. When its dead hop on the
elevator and press the button to make it go up. When you get to the top you
will come to a three branch room. Go the way marked "Cell Block A".
=======================
II.VII PRISON YARD RIOT
=======================
This room has two different branches. The one directly ahead of you leads to
a small room with a Nano-Med Station and the controls for the gate. The one
on your right leads down into the Cell Block, but there is a gate blocking you
at the base of the stairs.
Stroll in the room ahead of you and use the valve to open the gate. Use the
Nano-Med station if you need to then go back into the hallway.
Go around the corner and you will see a prisoner being shot to death. Can you
guess whats around the corner? Some guards. Walk around the corner and take
out the guards. Above the guards is a turret gun, which means death to you
unless you take it out fast. Just drop some rounds on it and it will blow up.
Kill any guards that you didnt kill before. If you turn right and look down the
cellblock you should see a turret gun firing at you. Get behind cover then
pop out and destroy it. Take down the few guards that pop out then continue
down the cell block.
Turn left at the next junction and you will be under fire from a couple of
guards and a turret. Take out the turrret first then drop the guards with your
assault rifle. Continue down the cell block and turn right. Waste the lone
guard here then go through the small hallway. Riddick realizes he needs to
trick the gaurds into opening the gate.
Now go back through the cell block. Take out any guards that get in your way.
When you reach the area where you started the stage turn right. Kill all the
guards here then go through the now opened gate. Use the radio transmitter that
the gaurd dropped to open the gate on the other side of the cell block.
Yet again go back through the cell block. You should you to the prisoner lying
on the ground wounded. If you want to be morale, you should shoot him to end
his misery.
Go forward and you will see a cut scene. Riddick jogs out into the courtyard
and is shot in the arm by a hidden guard. The guard is then tackeled by Riddick
and they fall in the pit together. As they fall Riddick uses the guard as a
cushion.
===============
II.VIII THE PIT
===============
When the guard and Riddick fell the flashlight on the guards shot was damaged
and know it only has six minutes of power, which is more than enough to finish
this chapter. Go forward and through the tunnel until you come to a hallway
with a glowing blue substance everywhere. Some dwellers will attack you.
Blast them to pieces and then continue until you come to a hole in the ground
where the grading broke. Go down in the hole and you will be under the floor
and on top of the blue substance. Go right at the junction and then proceed
down the hallway. Turn left and you will be in a short hallway with a valve
laying on the ground.
Take the Valve and go back to the torn grading. Jump over the hole and proceed
forward until you come to the junction. Once again take the a right and then a
left. You will see a weird looking man walking away muttering something.
Next too the gate ahead of you is an object in which you must put the Valve in.
Put it in then turn it to open the gate. Proceed on the scaffold and through
the tunnels.
====================
II.IX PAPA JOE'S DEN
====================
Walk with Popa Joe until you get to the elevator. Walk in and he will take you
up. Follow him down the hallway and through the corridor's. When you come to
the room with two doors and a box of flares he will stop. Go up and talk to
him.
Joe says that "he" told him that you would come to him (joe). Joe will stitch
your wound, but you must prove that you are not an imposter. Popa Joe has
recently lost his voicebox (radio) and he wants you to get it back. If you do
this he will stitch up your wounds and give you a special "gift".
Go over to the box of flares and take the limited number of 12. Now go back
through the previous hallway. Go inside the elevator and press the button to go
down. Ahead of you are two different paths. The one on the left will take you
to some dark corridors, and you dont have a flashlight. The one ahead of you
will take you back to the area of the previous chapter.
Take the path on the left and follow the blue plasma. When you come to a dark
corridor throw a flare inside. If there are any dwellers lurking nearby blast
them and move on.
Go down the corridor and turn right. Ahead of you is a small room with two
passages and explosive barrels everywhere. The area is infested with dwellers,
so I suggest moving quickly. Shoot the barrels to kill the dwellers then take
the small passage on the right. Go inside and get the Nano-Med cartridge and
take the voice box. Now go back in the previous room. Kill the dwellers here
then go back into the dark corridor.
Go down the corridor then turn left and go back in the large room. Run to the
elevator and press the button to make it go up. Any dwellers following you will
be smashed by it if they jump. Go through the hallways and back to the small
room. Talk to Joe and he will thank you and you will be treated to a CG
cutscene.
Popa Joe is stitching Riddick up while they chat a bit. After asking a few more
things Riddick asks how to get to Narc Land. Joe walks over to a small vent and
tells him that he goes out this way to get things from the hacks. Riddick
begins to go inside, when all of the sudden the world around him freezes. The
mysterious voice in Riddick's head will start talking.
She gives him a gift, and tells him to use it well. The world will now unfreeze
and Riddick will now see through eyeshine. For those who dont know, eyeshine
means that he can see in the dark. However, when used in light it is almost
blinding. After smacking Joe around a bit and arguing about what just happened,
Riddick hops inside the vent.
=================
II.X DARK TUNNELS
=================
Go to the end of the vent and jump out of the grating. You are now in what
appears to be a small boiler room. Ahead of you is a hallway with several
cubical looking machine. The hallway ahead of you turns left, but you will have
to deal with some dwellers before you can get to the end.
I recommend you hurry, since the dwellers in here seem to respawns. Anyway,
head forward then turn left. Go around the corner and you be in another hallway
the same as theprevious one. Straight ahead of you is a wall. On your left are
some dwellers coming to rip you apart. On your right are two huge pipes coming
out of the wall. Blast apar any of the dwellers you see and then quickly go up
the ladder.
=============
II.XI SHOWERS
=============
Welcome to Narc Land, or otherwise the guards recreation area. When your in
control take a 180 degree turn then head left. In the hallway are some stalls
behind curtains. Go up to the nearest one and flip the lightswitch to turn the
light off. A guard will come out of the nearest stall. Shoot him to death and
take his gun (pistol, but its real name is "gun").
Go around the corner and you will come to a large locker room. Quickly use the
lightswitch to the left of the entrance. This will shut off the lights. Flip
your eyeshine on by clicking the right thumbstick. This will make everything
a slightly purple tint but will allow you to see in the dark.
When you turned off the light the guard will have noticed. They will be
strolling along looking for anything suspicious. Quietly sneak up to the guard
and hit him in the back with your gun then take his ammo. Make your way to the
exact opposite side of the room you came from. You will reach a small hallway
with two different paths that lead around a wall.
Lean around the wall from either side and shoot the light on the cieling out.
Quickly lean behind the wall to avoid being seen by the now alerted guard. Flip
your eyeshine on and lean back out. Wait for him to turn his back on you then
walk up and stealth kill him. Take his assault rifle then wait for the guards
to show up. Kill them all then head out into the hallway. Take out any
remaining guards and head left. If you are low on health go right until you
find the Nano-Med station.
Once your ready head left. Go through the door and you will come to a couple
of guards. One is walking around at ground level and the others are patrolling
above on a balcony. Shoot the guard at ground level then snipe the others on
the balcony with your gun.
Ahead of you is a stairway and on your right is a passage. Go in the passage
and you will come to a room with a three sided door pressing against a crate.
Kill all three guards in here then take the path on the right. Kill the two
guards that comme for you then continue. Go down the long skinny room and kill
the guard thats walking around near the door. Go through the little hole with
rail. You will meet up with some more guards in the next room. Take them out
then go in the pass on the right.
You will come to a small hallway with a garage door on your right. Kill the
guard sitting around then go up to the eye reader located near the left of the
garage. Riddick sticks his eyes in, only to find he needs someone elses,
Abbott's. Go back to the entrance of the hallway and head forward. Go right
and kill the guard. Enter the door ahead of you to end the stage.
======================
II.XII GUARDS QUARTERS
======================
When you walk out of the door you will find yourself behind a wall. On each
side are openings leading out into a large courtyard type area. In the center
of the courtyard is some shrubry. On the other side of the area is a series
of balconys with guards patrolling. Below those balconies is a door with
several guards patrolling.
Two guards are patrolling on the balconies, while two more are on the ground
level. When your ready go out into an opening and fire at the two guards on
the ground level. When they are both dead take out your gun (pistol) and zoom
in at the guards on the balcony. Wait for them to stop then snipe them in the
head. After a few seconds some guards will come out of the door on the other
side of the courtyard. Take them out then head into the door. Inside you will
find an elevator.
Take it up and you will be met by three guards. Two more guards will come out
of the door on the right. Kill them then head then go in the door to your
left. Proceed down the hallway and take out the guard when you reach the
stairs. Go down the hallway and on the balcony. Continue down the balcony and
into the hallway.
You will come to a two-way junction. Take out all the guards that pop out of
the corners then take the left path. Go up the stairs and proceed down the
hallway. Kill the guard here then go right. Go up the stairs then quickly turn
around and waste the guard on the overhanging above. Now continue down the
hallway and you will come to an outdoor area with some guards. Shoot the guards
on the ground level then take out the ones on the balcony.
Take the rifle case that one of them dropped. Next to where the guard dropped
the rifle case is a door. Go up to the door and buzz in the speaker. Abbott
replies "what is it". Select the option "Ive got a package". Abbott opens the
door to reveal a halway. Walk in to end the stage.
==============
II.XIII ABBOTT
==============
Walk in the door ahead of you to enter Abbott's apartment. He will right away
realize that you are not here to give him his new rifle. He picks up and
Assault Rifle and starts attacking you. Right away run behind a pillar
somewhere. When he starts to reload run out and shoot him up. If you didn?t
kill him the first time repeat the strategy. This guy really sucks, I kill him
with one clip every time.
When you beat him the game will go into cut scene mode. Abbott is lying on the
ground in a huge pool of blood. Riddick leans over him and puts his fist in
the air. Right before he swings he feels the tip of a gun on the back of his
head.
Behind him is Johns. He explains to you that you and him are leaving butcher
bay. Unlucky for Johns Hoxie shows up with a couple of guards. You are then
taken to Hoxie?s office. Hoxie says he should kill you both, but he doesn't.
Hoxie then turns around and hits Johns. He also tells Johns that he will give
him plus 20% on Riddick. He then proceeds to smack Johns around a little more.
Finally Johns gives in and offers 22%. Hoxie replies by telling him to get the
**** out of his slam. He then turns to Riddick. He talks about how his Slam
is becoming a war zone, and what he intends to do with you. He decides to send
you to the mines, or otherwise Double Max.
_________________________________________________________________________
/ III. Double Max \
\_________________________________________________________________________/
==============
III.I TOWER 17
==============
Sit back and watch the rather impressive cut scene. If you listen Riddick will
explain some things about Butcher Bay, and reveal one important fact. It can
contain the cons, but never control them.
Continue watching the cut scene and you will see a large cell being transported
to a holding area. The robotic arm firmly places the cell inside on of the
designated holes. When the cell is tucked tightly in the hole, the door opens
up. Out of the darkness comes an hysterical prisoner. He runs over to the cell
next to him and starts screaming at a gruff looking prisoner. The gruff inmate
pushs him away. The hysterical inmate decides to try again, only to be thrown
down into the abyss.
Your view will now change to a security camers. Its cruising down the wall and
comes to the gruff looking prisoner you just saw. When the inmate realizes that
he was caught, he starts to panic. The turret fires away its machine gun,
killing the gruff looking inmate. Life obviously means nothing to anyone in
Butcher Bay, except maybe Riddick (though not really).
The cut scene will shift to another cell being taken down. It locks the cell
firmly into place, then the door opens. Out steps Riddick, looking pretty
badass.
When your in control immediatly turn right and follow the black inmate. You
eventually reach the end of the cells and come to a hallway. Go through then
stroll into the hallway. The other inmate will walk inside as well. You will
begin to move down. An additional inmate inside here starts banging on the
steel guard fence window. The guards shoot him to death.
The chapter ends once you get down.
====================
III.II TOWER 17 BASE
====================
You will start off in the elevator. Once the elevator come to a complete stop
follow the prisoner Real out. When he stops talk to him. He explains about
double max and tells you the rules. He also tells you about Jagger Valance.
When your done talking head down the hallway and into the yard. Now, there are
two ways to pass the entire courtyard/recreation area. You can fight your way
up to Bam, or you can get caught with drugs. Either way the point is to kill
Abbott, but for know we are just going to cover the Ring Fights method.
Anyway, no matter what you do you will have to fight a Blueskin to get past
here. Go talk to centurion to get a fight arranged. He tells you to challenge
the Blue Skin at the gate. Go over and talk to Harman the Blueskin. He
graciously accepts your challenge. Go back to centurion to start the fight.
After a review of the rules you will start off. Block right away and then hit
him. Keep Circling him and punching him. Use combo attacks and uppercuts.
After a few seconds he will die, and you win. Talk to centurion right away to
arrange another fight, but you will have to find the next "victim" Baasem. Go
to the door that Harman use to be guarding and go through to the recreation
area.
=======================
III.III RECREATION AREA
=======================
Half the aide quests in the game are in this area, but for now I?m going to
cover the fastest way of getting through this. Okay There are 4 parts of the
Recreation Area, A, B, C, and D. You should start off in a room with a huge
door and writing with a certain 4 letter word on it. Go next to it and it will
open up to part A. In part A there is a door to the right with 2 guards, a
door right in the middle with a riot guard, and a door to the left leading to
part B. The difference between the other parts is that the door on there left
leads back to the previous sector.
First things first, there?s a guy named Cricket in part A. Go talk to him and
he will sell you a Very Sharp Shiv for 30 ud. Next take the door to the right.
In courtyard B is Baasim, which if you already talked to centurion will agree
to fight you. Go talk to him and he will except you challenge. Go back through
the recreation are and into Tower 17. Go talk to centurion to start the fight.
Now, Baasim is a lot harder than Harman, and a lot faster. Right away block
because he?s going to hit you first. Once he hits you punch him then block
quickly to avoid damage. Repeat this strategy until he starts to bleed a lot,
then hold down block and right before he hits you press the right trigger.
Riddick will grab baasim and punch him hard in the face killing him. Once your
done go over and talk to Centurion. He will tell you that he has another
challenger, Sawtooth, and that he is located at the diner (feed ward).
================
III.IV FEED WARD
================
The feed ward is located in the room with the big door leading into the
recreation area, only its on the other side of the room. Find your way to the
feed ward and then continue down the hall. Right away a Blueskin will attack
you in revenge for Harman. Before you hit him back up out of the way of the
security turret. Okay, he?s really easy so just kill him. Walk into the diner
and then on the right eating will be Sawtooth. Talk to him and he will accept
your challenge. Now go back to Tower 17. Talk to centurion to fight Sawtooth.
This guy is a lot harder then Baasim because he has an advantage, a shiv. But,
unlucky for him you have a super sharp shiv. Okay, Since you cant block in this
fight your going to need to kill him quickly before he can take much life off
of you. Right away move to the right or left to dodge his first attack. Equip
your shiv then slice him with a combo. Dodge his counter attack then slice him
a again. After you do this a few times he should die.
Go talk to centurion to arrange another fight against Cusa, who is located
all the way over in section D of the recreation area. Make your way there and
then challenge him. Once he?s accepted head back to tower 17. Talk to centurion
to arrange the next fight. This guy believe it or not is easy. Right when you
start off just move to the left or right then combo him ONCE and he will die.
NO I am not kidding, thats how weak he is. There is only one opponent left now,
Bam. Talk to centurion to arrange the final battle. Out of the stairs will
come Bam, complete with Yellow Armor and a spiky knuckle duster. This guy is
hard, and by far the hardest ring opponent. Okay, the one thing you need to
do is to keep circling him. Go whenever you get his back facing you and
slice him with your shiv. Repeat that strategy and you should be able to beat
him after about 15 minutes. Just kidding, it will probably take you around 2
minutes.
When he dies you will see 2 guards come up and take Riddick to a room. In
the room awaits abbott with a bat. After knocking around Riddick he has his
boys come to finish you. But as Riddick says, they don't know what there
"messing" with. The mysterious voice talks to Riddick and release a power
inside of him. All of the sudden the camera changes to the door of the room
and you hear a loud cry, and then you see the door flying off with the two dead
guards and a shaken abbott flying out then smacking down on the floor. Right
away you will start off facing abbott. Now this guy is very hard since he
has that damn club. I have found that if you can get him to back up in a corner
you can repeatedly hit him for like 5 minutes till he dies. This method is not
quick, but it is effective and it DOES work. Don?t email telling me it doesn't
work because I did it 4 times to make sure! Once you beat him take his card
and his bat. Search the room and you will find a station that increases your
maximum health by one. Find the exit, but before you exit conceal your weapons
by changing to your fists.
Now that you have Abbotts key card you can go through a door in the Work Pass
Area. The work pass area is located past one of the doors in The D section of
the recreation area. GO through the Courtyards and into the work pass area to
complete this very long chapter.
===============
III.V WORK PASS
===============
The first room in the work pass area is rectangular shaped with three doors.
One door has a riot guard in front of it, another with a worker, and one
on the far right with a keycard pad. Go to the one on the right and use
Abbott's key card to get into the room. Once you get inside you will notice
that it is Pitch black. Turn on your night vision and you will see a worker,
and two guards. One of the guards has a flashlight, so it would make sense to
kill him first. In this room there are several floors that are a few feet
above the ground, Crawl underneath them and make some noise. One by one sneak
up and kill the suspicious guards and the worker. On the ground next to
where the worker was when you first entered the room is a vent tool. Go back
to the entrance. On the right side of the room is a Nano-Med station, but on
the left there is a row of boxes and a walkway with a grating in the wall.
Go into the grading and follow the vent until you come out and fall into an
elevator.
====================
III.VI MINE ENTRANCE
====================
This chapter will start off showing Riddick riding on top of an elevator with
2 guards in it. Once you get to the bottom the guards will walk out and you
will be back in control of Riddick. The guards will walk over a bridge and into
an area with 2 crates stacked on the left then 2 more on the side but not
stacked. The room they just entered is what seems to be a large underground
canyon.
Wait until the guards are on the other side of the bridge and behind all the
crates. Move forward slowly and then proceed up the two crates. You will now
have a view of the entire area, so memorize where the guards walk. When you
can get one alone next to the base of the crates jump down and kill him. The
other guard may notice you and some attack you. Run back up the crates and
repeat the strategy. Once there dead look around you will see a huge door.
Exactly on the other side of the room s a tunnel engraved in the rock.
Follow this down until you come to a door and a guard. Wait till the guard
walks up close to you and turns around. Sneak up and kill him. Proceed through
the door and into the hallway. GO into the big door marked with "security
checkpoint".
===========================
III.VII SECURITY CHECKPOINT
===========================
This chapter marks the beginning of the hardest part of the game. I seem to
have had a lot of emails stating they can't get past this. So, I hope this
helps you. The security checkpoint is a room with a long walkway leading into
an area with 1 riot guards and 3 guards. The reason its so hard is that no
matter what you do you will have to run out in front of the riot guard without
a weapon, which in most cases will get yourself killed. Anyway, here's how to
get past the shortest, but hardest chapter in the game. You will start off at
the beginning a long walk way.
Go down the walkway and you will see some crates that provide shadows. Run as
fast as you can behind them. The guards will hear you but won't see you, so
don't worry. Continue along the crates until you come to the last one. Peek
left and you will see a guard standing there with his back turned. Sneak up
and kill him, then take move his body into the shadows. In this room there
are two exits, one behind the riot guard, and the other above you on a
balcony. Believe it or not the one behind the riot guard is easier to get to,
but the one above you will make the next chapter a whole lot easier. If you
want to the door behind the riot guard the strategy is pretty simple. Run
forward and past the riot guard without taking too much damage. Then go through
the door. If you want to take the harder but more reliable way here?s what you
have to do. Ahead of you are a stack of three crates. Run forward and climb up
them as fast as you can. Turn around and you will see a balcony, climb up on
it. On the balcony there is a door, go through it. Go down the stairs to finish
the chapter.
====================
III.VIII UPPER MINES
====================
You will start off on a balcony with several pillars on the side. The room is
a huge room with several balconies running above a walkway. If you ran behind
the riot guard in the previous chapter you would be down there, making this
chapter much harder. But if you ran up the crates, you will breeze through
this. Walk quickly in between the pillars until you get to the corner. Go left
and continue until you come to the last opening. Below you are some crates and
a guard walking around. Drop down behind the crates to have some cover then
peek out and spy on the guard. Once the guard has his back turned run up and
kill him. Next to you there are some crates piled up sloppy and there is an
opening underneath them.
Squeeze down in there. A guard will come up out of the end of the hallway. Wait
until he passes you then sneak out of the crack and sneak attack him. Go down
the hallway from which he came then up the stairs. You will be in a
hallway with a door ahead and another hallway to the left. In the hallway
the left are is a Blueskins and a guard. Sneak up and kill the guard. Talk to
the Blueskin and he will tell you that the guard in the next room has the
keycard to open the door behind him. Open the other door and run up to the
guard that comes out. He will swing at you, but press the right trigger to
make him shoot himself. Take his keycard the go back to the previous room.
Open the door behind the Blueskin and go through.
======================
III.IX CARGO TRANSPORT
======================
The Cargo Transport Area consists of 3 levels. There are crates and other
objects being moved up and down through 4 elevator type machines. Right now
we need to get to floor 1. When you walk in the room for the love of god use
the Nano-Med station, your going to need it. As said before there are three
elevators moving crates up and down. Between 2 of them is a wall with the
Nano-Med station. Face the Nano-Med station and look right. The elevator on
the far side with no crate just the lift is the one you need to take. Wait
until it comes down then jump on it. When you reach the bottom you will
find a miner and a dead guard. Talk to the minor and he will sell you a tranq
gun for 50ud, please buy it. It makes the next chapters much easier. On the
other side of the room from where you found the guard there is a door that
leads into the mining core. Go through it.
=================
III.X MINING CORE
=================
Finally your in the mines. You will start off in a hallway with a branch to the
right and strait ahead. To your left is a Nano-Med station. Go forward and up
the stairs. Shoot the guard that?s watching over the area from the guard rail
with your tranq gun. Walk up to him and press the left trigger to kick him thus
killing him. Look below and you will see the next area. Its a mining area with
a huge machine in the middle and some enemies. Above is a rail defense system
with rotating turret guns. There is also an elevator on one side and a hallway
on the other.
Go back down to the hallway and up to the door. Outside the door there?s one
guard, a mechanic and possibly a riot guard. When you open the door look around
for the guard. When you seem him shoot him quickly before he sees you. Most
likely the mechanic will have heard so shoot him too. Go finish both of them.
If the Riot Guard is in here keep shooting him with the tranq gun to him for a
few seconds. Next to the big machine is a power box. Open it to turn the rail
defense system of to make things a little easier.
Remember the hallway on one side of the room? Go down it. When you come to
a left turn peek before you continue. Right after that there is another turn.
There are 2 guards and a riot guard in the next pass. If you take them all on
at once your probably going to die, so this is what I did. Run out and shoot
the riot guard. The other guard should follow you. Run back and find cover
then wait until the guard comes to attack you. Stun him with the tranq gun
then kick him. Go back into the room and shoot the riot guard again. In the
few seconds he stunned looked for some crates on your right. There is a small
hidden passage going under them. Shoot the riot guard again then just run in
the passage. When you get out you will see a man standing there, Jagger
Valance. Talk to him and he will tell you that he needs you to get a package
he dropped in the gas room back for him, since his lungs aren?t what they used
to be.
The package is located in a gassed up room on the other side of this area.
Look around and you will see 2 miners and a guard. Shoot the guard then follow
the crates. Eventually the crates will thin making you visible. Between each
crate is a guard that will patrol every couple of minutes. Move along the
crates and one-by-one kill the guards. When you get to the end you will see
a guard on a ramp. Go shoot him then continue up the ramp and then right into
the next room. You will find a Nano-Med station if you need it. Go through the
warning tape on the front of the door and into the gas chamber. Follow the path
through the red gas until you come to some crates and a hole. Jump up on the
crates then duck and go through the hole. The package is lying on the ground.
Take it then go back through the gas chamber.
Once your outside take it back to Jagger Valance. After a bit of talking Jagger
agrees to help Riddick get to the space port, but he has to do something first.
The chamber you went is above a den of very dangerous creatures. He wants you
to put a bomb in and blow up the wall and thus realizing the creatures. He
tells you that there is a man named Jupiter in Tower 19 that will help you get
the bomb.
Now, make your way back to the cargo transport area. Were going to do the same
thing we did the first time, only were going up, not down. The lift you need
is on the far right side. Stand on the grading and wait until it the crate
comes to move you up. Instead of getting off at level 2, wait until you get to
the very top then step off. To your right is a door. Go through it and then
through the next door.
You will come out on a ventilation shaft hanging over an endless pit. Jump
down on it and look around. There is a little spot were the vent was broken
off and the area open for you to go into the shaft. Very Carefully climb down
and go into the shaft. Follow the path to the end and jump down. You are now
in the elevator you came down in. Use the keycard to go up.
When you reach the top go out and you will come to a room with an electrified
fence. Look to the left and you will see a crate and a wall. Climb up the
crate then shimmy to the left until you are under the over hanging rail. Pull
yourself up then jump on the rail. Climb over the area below and stop when
you are right above the wall. Let go of X and to fall on the top of the wall.
Conceal your tranq gun then hop down. Go through the door hidden to the left
in order to proceed.
Remember this area? Crawl under the floor and sneak over until you can see the
door. Shoot him and then kick him. Go through the door and into the ventilation
hatch. Follow the hatch till the end then you will come out above the feed ward
area. Shoot out the lights right away so the guards don?t kill you and then
go around the cage. Shoot the guard then kick him then go down the hallway.
Turn on off the lights with the control panel and then continue. Shoot then
kick guard and continue around the cage. Keep going until you come to a
lighted area. Shoot the guard and kick him then go right and kill the next
guard. Next to him is a ventilation hatch, go in it. Keep following it and
you will finish this long chapter.
===============
III.XI TOWER 19
===============
Go down the ventilation hatch until you plop out into a room. Shoot then kick
the guard and then take his keycard. Use the computer terminal near you to
open the cell doors so you can talk to Jupiter. In order to get to Jupiter
you will need to go through a door in this room. If you stand with your back
against the wall and look right you will see a door. Go through it then
through the hallway then the next door. The cells will open and Jupiter will
walk out one of them. Talk to him and he will give you the bomb. Once your
done talking two guards ambush you. They kill Jupiter and start shooting at
you. Shoot then kick both of them then look over the edge of the cell doors.
There should be a cell that?s being transported, if not then wait. When one
comes just jump off and land on the cell to finish the chapter.
========================
III.XII Container Router
========================
After a few seconds of riding on the cell it stops and you have to reactivate
it. When you stop 2 guards will be on the tracks attacking you. Shoot them
then go over and kick them. On one side of the cell you just hopped of is
a hole with a ladder. Go down it and then turn on your eyeshine. You come down
to a room with heavy mist in the air. In one of the corners is an exit. Go
through it and shoot the guy then kick him. Continue through the room and you
will come to a ladder. Go up to go on to the next area. When you climb you
will see a guard walking past, shoot him then kick him. Next to where he was
walking is a ladder, climb UP it. Walk on the little balcony and go into the
grating.
Follow the grating to the end. When you kick it out and drop you will be on
top of some crates with a guard below guarding a door. Shoot then kick him and
go out of the room from the other opening on the left side of the crates. Go
through this room and continue up the ladder. You will come out in a hallway
with a security turret facing you (not active). Climb up and go down the
hallway. In the next room there is a guard and a Nano-Med station. Go in and
shoot the guard; use the station if you need to. To your right is a hallway
that has an overlook of the cell station you just arrived at. There is also
a mechanic, shoot then kick him and take his red key card. Use the computer
terminal to start your cell again. Watch helplessly as your cell runs strait
into the wall and thus making you having to find another, Go back down the
hallway and tucked in one of corners in the shadow of a crate is the grating
that you came in here from. Open it then continue.
Go through the ventilation shaft then down the ladder. Go through the room
and into the room with the dead guard. Open the door with your new red security
card. Keep going across the bridge and silently into the next hallway. The next
area of this chapter consists of several hallways with laser trip beams that
trigger Turrets. In order to see these beams you will need to turn on your
eyeshine. There are also guards running about. Proceed into the next hallway
stun the guard. Turn on your eyeshine and you wills see the trip beam. There
is a little box on the side, shoot it to disable the beam. Go around the corner
and kick the guard you shoot earlier. Keep going and shoot the next guard too.
Stomp him and continue. You will come to a long hallway, a guard will walk up
at the other end. Shoot him then run up and stomp him. Keep going and you will
come to a room with several branches going off in different directions. Take
the one that has the central station sign hanging above it. Go down the
hallway and kill the mechanic there. Go over to the computer and use it. You
will get a message saying the generator failed and you need to reactivate the
back-up generator.
Okay, go back out into the room with the various passage ways. Open the huge
security door, but don?t run in. There is trip beam at the beginning of the
hallway, shoot it. Go around the corner and turn your eyeshine on and you will
see another trip beam. Shoot its power supply then go around the next corner.
Shoot he guard quickly and then kick him. You are now in a room with a Nano-Med
station, so use it if you need it. Follow the path until you come out to the
station. its completely dark so your going to have to use eyeshine. Shoot the 2
guards and kick them then look for a ladder leading down into the track. When
you find it go down then look for a ladder with an orange glow. Go down it and
you will see a big power switch, use it to restore power. Now, go back through
the various hallways but WATCH FOR TRIPBEAMS, they are reactivated by now. When
you get back to the terminal activate the track then once again go back to the
station. When you get to the station jump down on the side of track. Wait until
a cell comes by, and then jump on it once it starts to lower into the pit. You
will trigger a trip beam on the way down no matter what. When you get to the
bottom jump off onto the little balcony. Go through the grating in the wall.
Follow the vent into the mining core. When you jump out you will be near the
area where you first met Jagger valance. Make your way over to the gas room
and go inside. GO to the spot where you found the package and a cut scene will
show Riddick lighting the bomb. Once its over get out of there. When you walk
out the door the game will go into cut scene mode. It will show Riddick walking
away when he is suddenly stopped by a riot guard. After some talking the riot
guard realizes its Riddick and arranges a transport.
==================
III.XIII THE CRASH
==================
When you first start this chapter you will see a rather lengthy cut scene. It
involves Riddick being transported in a cell. Once the riot guard turns you
over to the other guards. During your transport there is an explosion. The
cell goes into emergency mode and everything dims. A few seconds later things
will come into focus. Your still strapped down in the cell and the guards are
getting up. One of them puts the cell in emergency mode and the door is
released. One guard goes out to see what happens and the other stays here to
guard you. Once your back in control walk up to the guard. He will try to melee
attack you but press the right trigger to make him shoot himself. Go out of the
cell than turn on your eyeshine. Go down the busted track and then you will
automatically go into cut scene mode. The cut scene show Riddick peeking around
at the guard. After he radios in he looks around a bit more. But there is a
huge hole behind him, and out comes a ferocious and hideous monster. This is
called a Xeno. Off of the Xeno's back comes a miniature monster. It silently
runs up and chops the guards head off, then drags him back into the pit. Once
you are back in control jump down the hole. Yes, I did just tell you to jump
down the hole that the Xeno came out.
==================================
III.XIV ABONDONED EQUIPMENT CENTER
==================================
You will start off in the hole. In front of you is the dead guard. Walk up
to him and something will pull him away leaving his shotgun for you to use (yes
finally a gun!). Keep going and you will come to a dirty out cropping. A huge
Xeno monster will jump out at you. Run around it and into the door behind it.
Shoot the Xeno in her
